DSTV Drifta

Its just their attitude (not properly communicating with their customers) - not even any word on their own forums, never mind this well-known national one.

DSTV

I am new to this forum but have been active on the forum hosted by MC. I have to say that they do not reply to post and do not provide feedback to their customers. I have phoned them and they have no answers. The best they can do is soon. But that have been the answer since April.

anyone buy the drifta usb yet ?

is the resolution the same as the normal drfita and how does it look on a pc screen (24inch)

I want one for the obvious reason of sport and want to use my desktop for it

Is the quality any good for the price cos i cannot find any info on that

thanks

Got a new drifta and the fw was updated to the new version 2.1.266 an it doesn't work on my jail broken Iphone 4.3.3 with the decoder version 1.01.02 or the latest version 1.3.3. Anyone got a crack for version 1.3.3? Jailbreaking isn't illegal so i don't know why Multichoice do that check. Do they also check to see if your windows version is legal?

The resolution will be the same as the normal Drifta. Resolution is not device dependant but rather 'broadcast' dependant. Think of it this way - DSTV has normal channels and HD channels. You can't buy a different decoder to receive the normal channels in HD quality.

There's a definite degradation in quality when the picture is resized/magnified for bigger screens. It's neither great not terrible - it's acceptable if you're dying to watch some sports and your TV is 1 - 2 metres away from the couch. You won't be able to read fine print but you can still read scores.

If possible, go check it out at a friend's home first if you know anyone with a Drifta. It really is best to see it in person before deciding to buy. I've realized that it really is a love it or hate it device.

Hate it don't use it and want to get rid of it - offers??

Mine won't work properly :(
It works fine with the computer over USB but, everytime I try connecting to the iPhone I get "no channel available" then nothing.
I've tried resetting, restarting, reinstalling, all to no avail.

Question: when you connect with your iPhone does your phone show a wifi connection at the top of the screen? Mine is showing only 3G, even whilst the app is "running".

Man this is frustrating...

And if you don't have a friend you could always convert any video file to 320 x 280 px (4:3 ratio) and get a feel for how it might look like.

Unless you are sure that you have good reception in your area DO NOT GO FOR THE USB DECODER. I just helped someone now exchange the USB decoder for a Wi-Fi one. The Wi-Fi decoder can be placed where there is good reception and one can then watch on a laptop/iPhone/iPad anywhere in the signal range of the decoder. The USB decoder forces the user to sit where there is good reception ... and that can be real awkward.

What do you mean? Watching rugby on top of my roof is awesome! Granted it was slightly chilly during that last cold front :P
