DSTV Drifta

When we have moves like that it doesn't surprise me when I see people pirating media.

I mean here is a perfect example of people who want to watch things on their phones and even paying for it, but because of useless DRM and copy concerns gets blocked. So at the end of the day if I want to watch something on my phone I am left with no other option than to download a torrent and copy it onto my device.

Media industry, only ones I know that could make a killing in the tech age but instead try to hang onto the past.

But they should wake up soon, I see Netflix has started moving outside of the US borders....

Anyone see t's and c's about the app? Yet they forced seo to stop working on it.

Dam drm:(
Would it be illegal to use another app to temporarily unroot the phone? I installed OTA rootkeeper from the market on my galaxy s (voodoo kernel only i think) and it temp disables rooting... I launch the dstv app and it searches for my drifta but its at home now so i cant go further.
I go back to ota rootkeeper and just enable rooting again. No reboot requiered.

Would one of the lucky few that downloaded the modified app/apps (t1 and T2) be so kind to share - please ...

It's so true. DRM and similar archaic policies only hurt the honest consumers. The guys looking to record broadcasts will find a way to do it and meanwhile the folks who faithfully pay the monthly fee for their Drifta's can't make full use of them (unless they have one of the three Samsumg devices).

None of them worked for my Desire HD, or Galaxy Tab 10.1v

can someone upload t2 if they have it
yes its not working on some fones.but ppl can keep trying who knows it might work on some other s

Am I the only one noticing something wrong with this "Samsung" device?

ss-480-1-0

This is the official screenshot in the Android Market and it's clearly not running on a Samsung device. That is clearly the HTC sense icons in the top bar. Now I don't know if this is good or bad news, but this means a working HTC android version exists. And more than likely for other android devices as well. So that's some good news, but then why are they hiding it from us? I believe this is where sponsorship deals and so on comes in. See my drifta has an idols channel and Samsung sponsors idols. So are they withholding it from us? Likely. Why else post screenshots from another device on Android Market if you don't even support it. Surely you'll take publicity pics only of your best working products?

If I have more time I'll look a bit into the resolutions of those screenshots and if they even match the Samsung screen sizes. Most likely since there is only a few standard sizes out. but I'm head hunting so I might just as well. But just wanted to share this for now.

[Edit] The resolution is a standard 480 by 800 as expected. It is indeed found on the Galaxy S, but also on the HTC Desire...

Nice one Zandberg. But are you sure those icons are for an HTC only? I have an HTC and sure, they look the same as my phone, but isn't Android all the same? I never realized that the icons at the top could be different.

It's from the proprietary HTC Sense interface. As far as I'm aware no other device apart from HTC's own devices run that interface.

Looking at the screen res of 800x480 and the 96 dpi with no Exif and the top icons, this screenshots must have been taken from HTC Desire HD with Android SDK

And knowing the Android API's I would very much believe the reason they did not release it is because of HTC's lack of DRM when it comes to media. You need to download and install Samsung's 3rd party add on to get that. Samsung Electronics from (innovator.samsungmobile.com)

Its not, there is no build in DRM API's in Android prior to 2.4
Samsung has included special API's for their hand sets to do this, its the same ones that was included from 2.4 onwards in stock Android.

I am willing to bet that if you install Android 2.4 and t1 you will have no problems on any device.
