Has anyone tried to output the dstv drifta onto your tv?
I know you can't do it through the app but you can use tvouttuner from cydia.
Was wondering how well it looks on a bigger screen

It will be horrible on a big screen. Just going from the iPhone to the larger iPad, you can notice a big decrease in resolution (I have tried that). Going to an external big screen will be like watching stick figures - I haven't tried it, but I have read elsewhere, and it is obvious that it would be bad

The resolution on the device is 240pixels. I.e. only good for small phones. You'd be better off with a radio :).

I got myself a dstv drifter on Friday and returned it on Saturday. I was not working on my iPad because dstv mobile does not support jailbroken devices and it does look horrible on the tv. Its like the say DSTV MOBILE. The other thing is there is so far not coverage everywhere. I would be cool if you are camping and you could watch the rugby match on you iPhone.

the only cool thing about the whole DSTV drifter is the channels you get. I only want DSTV for the sport channels and why not make it available on the normal dstv bouquet for say R50 a month?

Well, for those with NO TV at work, the Drifta is a nice way of following the cricket / sport on Fridays ;)

And what is R600 nowadays (a nice dinner for 2)...

But yes, if you have a 42"+ TV at home with HD PVR it is NOT going to compare...

Need myself one of these, but only after it can work on Android phones.

got the drifta and works quite nicely on the phone i must say. was just wondering how it will look through tvouttuner

love my drifter while in traffic, works like a charm and I havent been to an area that doesn't have reception... its def gonna liik crap on anyhting bigger than an Ipad....

oh keeping on topic here, anyone know if there is an app out for the mac laptops, will be keen to watch on my laptop!

According to what I've read multichoice updated the decoder app for JB devices due to someone posting on their forums mentioning that they use TV-out via a cydia app.
IMHO from what I've seen on my iPad I wasn't that impressed, too blurry for me :(

But if you run it through an amp/receiver that upscales, wouldn't that be an improvement ?

hmm...surely a receiver cant upscale the rez that much?
then again it also depends on the res of the screen though too...

Its mobile for a reason if you want to watch DSTV on a big TV get normal DSTV.

true but if you go away for a few days and there's a big game on a bigger screen is always better
obviously it's not designed for that purpose but just wondering about the possibility

320x240 resolution ain't gonna cut it and then you have low frame rates as well. You can't turn crap into gold.

When you go away check that the place has dstv or ask how close the nearest pub is.

The guys over at xsellize fixed a version that allows you to run it on a jb device. Just search their forums. Although I couldn't get tv out to work on my cable, I'm convinced it will look crappy
