DSTV Drifta

I use a VGA adaptor for iPhone - works OK, but on larger screens it does look terrible!

The best for me on a large screen is to use Magnifier on windows 7 on about 200-225% zoom. How does the VGA cable quality compare to magnifier on the same screen? Assuming you Have win 7 that is

If i were to use the Drifta on my iPod 2nd generation, would it be a worthy purchase? As in the quality of video and depending on the iPod's screen size etc. and what 'extra' costs are needed?

Nope only Premiumnow, the compact users had till the end of march to join the party.

If it's an iPod touch, yes. Quality is not bad on iPhone 4, doubt iPod touch will be any worse as the resolution of drifta is quite low. Not really optimised for iPhone 4. Charges are your drifta (saw them on special somewhere for R499)

@Dubi
Bit late to reply now, since you already returned it... but there is a version of the Drifta Decoder software that runs on a jailbroken iPhone / iPad floating around the interwebs, and it works.

Not sure if i'm allowed to paste the link, PM me if you need it

to all the more technologically advanced:

Options I have thought of that might work but would need some firmware/app programming:
1. playing on TV through a multy media player that plays other video formats
2. playing through car DVD/entertainment systems where USB are used

The "BIGGEST" i can get my feed it via the decoder onto my laptop, and then onto a screen via a projector....the resolution stays the same, the picture is just bigger. Have not yet tried the Magnifier, but maybe a como of the two?

I was wondering... The DSTV Drifta displays a 320*240 resolution. This is just about normal vga. We have a 74cm CRT tv. I used to watch movies from my laptop on the tv. Now, I have to set my resolution as VGA mode (which is 320*200) for the tv to be able to display properly. I connect my laptop to the tv with a vga to rca converter like this:
http://www.hdcabling.co.za/vga-to-r...o-tv-converter-vga-to-av-converter-p-112.html

When I set it to 320*200 resolution the tv displays full screen. I think the CRT's have a low resolution, and I think that resolution is 320*200.

So if I was to buy a Drifta, and connect it to my laptop, would it not be able to display properly full screen on my tv?? What do you guys think? It all seems to add up.. Any comments, or thought will be welcome..

Thanks

So basically I think I'd be able to watch fullscreen without quality loss, and have a bigger picture on my 74cm CRT tv.... Question is... Will it work, since it is just a theory?
