I was forced by terrible DSTV support to take my dad's DSTV Dual View decoder through to Multichoice in Randburg, and, while I was there, the teckie showed me something quite lekka:
- If you connect your second TV via the CO-AX cable running out of the Dual View decoder ...
- You can buy a small InfraRed receiver from Multichoice that plugs in where the co-ax plugs into your second TV ...
- You plug this in, and then you have an InfraRed reciever which you can place on top of this second TV ...
- You can then use your second channel remote control, by pointing it at the little IR on top of the second TV, which actually transmits some sort of signal back up the co-ax to the DSTV Dual View unit, and hey presto ... you can control the decoder from here on the second "channel".
- You have to go into the decoder's menu system and configure it so that this facility is enabled.
Pretty leakka methinks.
But - if you're using the RCA connectors (Like me) .. well then .. sorry for you.
But .. hey .. I'm probably the only one who did not know about this.
