DStv ending its Mobile TV service

MultiChoice has announced that its DStv Mobile service will end on 31 October 2018.

DStv Mobile TV launched in 2010 and used DVB-H technology, allowing users to access DStv on their phone, laptop, or tablet via a Drifta mobile decoder.

The IBM XT can still be used though. This is just like MC though, buy something and then you have to give it back. No mention it's only a temporary service.

All the K*K that no person with a brain would watch was on Mobile. Big brother ? Really. Sport as well. in the week there is almost no live sport, except tennis, golf and that wasnt' on SS 1-4. So ya, if they put on stuff worth watching on the mobile platform it can work. bUT THEY try rather to appeal to the idiots of the world.

DSTV introduced the Drifta almost a decade back. Time progresses and technology moves on... so should you.

Next you'll complain when SABC switches of its standard def analog transmitters too, citing old analog standard def as a 'temporary service'.

The problem with your analogy is that they knew they were using outdated technology as a temporary stop gap rather than going with the times and what people want. As I understand there is actually already digital signals so it's not a case of either or let's stay on analogue.

And btw got an sms from them for premium at R699. I mean wow, a little extra content for me I'm not used to and wouldn't know what to do with. Dstv must be getting really desperate here. Only problem is it's only for a month. How about reducing it permanently and charging half the price for C+? That would bring back a bit of value.
