Firstly, I'm not your brother.

Why would you think I'm a softy? Because I think that MC is not doing anything to warrant a comparison with rape? They are not physically or emotionally harming you. They are not forcing you to do anything. You have the option to say no. There is absolutely no comparison between their subscription charges and rape. So, why do you use that analogy. It is unnecessary and an insult to rape victims everywhere, but I guess you would never comprehend that.

It's a very fitting comparison and well used in SA... also often used of Telkom and Eskom (you've probably even used it yourself of them).

I'll call them whatever I see fit. If you don't like it, tough cookies.
 
I'm surprised that this thread was resurrected, usually a new thread is created and the bitching and moaning starts afresh with forumites not remembering that it has all been debated ad nauseam before.

It is now nearly 12 months since I told MonoChoice where they could shove DSTV, I have saved a substantial amount of money that has helped to offset the exponentially rising cost of living.

I think this topic gets repeated annually. In a year it will probably be back with the same complaining about R630 being too much but most will not do anything about it :erm:

I cancelled mine about 3 or 4 years ago, switched to downloaded movies etc and haven't missed DSTV at all (I don't normally watch sport)

I spent 10 years in the UK and had SKY and in that time i think it went up twice by a couple of pound...


My SKY for everything except Sports was £22 per month in 2000 today that same package is £26pm approx R300 or in real terms R150 per month as you earn much more in the UK


We also in 2007 received a SKY+ box (PVR in dstv) for FREE and FREE installation ... they tried to charge extra per month for the SKY+ but this was dropped after a couple of months as people complained...


Plus as a SKY customer you get 16mps uncapped ADSL and a phone line for £5 per month


Sky+ for £26 per month or R150 in reality
Free installation and FREE PVR or HD PVR plus £25 Woolworths voucher

Fox HD in Australia also has a real bouquet, makes dstv look like So Much Less (for so much more)
 
I'm seriously investigating the alternative of streaming and downloading my viewing needs.

Makes economic sense with broadband prices constantly decreasing.
