DStv Explora 3 - New decoder to replace the Explora 2

YOU work for DSTV?
No!
Why is it that your normal response to anyone who tries to provide as much information about anything is always "YOU work for ........"? And believe me, I have checked thousands of your posts.

Is it beyond your comprehension that there are people out there who want to help others with their decision-making process by making all the known information available?

That particular piece of wisdom only comes with age it seems.

Being a techie and a 1st-generation gamer, I used to dream about having a TV/PC in every room of the house.

Luckily I realized the flaw in that particular plan before I was too old to still enjoy what life I had left the real world.

Spending your limited time staring at a screen for 14 hours a day is a tragedy.

Not saying to not watch TV/ play games at all, but as with everything else it must be balanced out with activities that matter.
You remind me of my younger self. I was exactly the same. It's a good thing that I came to my senses before it was too late. It's simply impossible to put a younger head on older shoulders.

Basic DSTV doesn't have live rugby or cricket.
Not completely accurate. It depends on what the SABC covers. Ar the moment, Cricket is covered by the SABC, and so are all international Rugby matches but "delayed live"

Another downgrade wow! Some of those little things like the front display actually matter and the realization comes when they are taken away like in this case

So another article was published today on the exact same subject, heaven knows why.
Only one useful piece of information was added, and that is negative for the Explora 3A.

The PSU available is inferior to the Explora 2A. Consequently, the Explora 3A, the least capable of powering and SLNB! The Explora 3A can only provide a maximum of 500 mA to the LNB port, whereas The Explora 2A could deliver a maximum of 750 mA.

The effect of this is that the cable length between the decoder and the LNB now becomes more critical. The Explora 3A is hardly able to deliver sufficient power to an SLNB model LMX500, which is the most power hungry of the SLNB models. The LMX501 is the next on the list. What this means is users can expect their decoders to overheat, and fail sooner when connected via long cables to the older model SLNBs.
