Hi

Took my SD decoder to DSTV and got swapped with a explora.
Set up the explora as my primary decoder.
HD as my secondary.
Both decoders set-up in same room.
Could watch SD and HD using tv links.
Followed the installation instructions but cannot view in other rooms.

RF outputs need to be tuned, make sure they aren't conflicting. My cousins setup once changed to broadcast both decoders on Ch 63, it just happened out of the blue which was really strange, took an hour to diagnose after checking through everything else.

I'm saying this as it seems by your OP that the HD also isn't working now?

Are the heartbeat communication ports both RF out? and joined with a T-Piece (Not the ellies thing)

DSTV Self Install Model 2A decoder

Hi Guys,

apologies if im hijacking this topc
Please help with the new DSTV Explorer Model 2A[please dont tell me to find an installer, i want to do it myself]

I purchased the new explorer to upgrade from my existing PVR with twin LNB.
NEW - DSTV Explore Model 2A
- Quad LNB
- 80cm Dish
- New replacement cables.
- DSTV HD decoder Model 4U[xtraview]

-I have managed to replace all my old cables with the new ones, got hold of the signal detector [analogue]
-managed to get a good signal.
-connected one cable from the quad LNB "UNIVERSAL) port to the Primary decoder "LNB IN" port
-connected one cable from "A" port on the quad LNB to the DSTV HD decoder Model 4U[xtraview]in the other room.
-Terminated port “B” and “C” cause I’m not using them yet

After doing all the above I do not get a signal when I select IS20 on the setup screen, I only get a signal on SMATV, this is a problem as I cannot get all the channels, I get signal error for some and i'm on the premium package.

On the second Decoder 4U im not getting a ny signal at all, it picks up for a few seconds and loses it again.

First of all make 110% sure you've got the dish aligned correctly, LNB needs to be rotated at around the 4 'O clock position, and dish facing roughly east

The explora PVR's use SatCR, which only needs one cable (called unicable on the LNB)

Make sure you have the correct cables plugged in to the right place's, and if you have more than one decoder using the unicable ports on the LNB, that your decoders are set up to use their respective user bands

You cannot use a standard quad LNB for the explora you need to get the Smart LNB or the Smart switch.
