My apologies if this issue has already been dealt with but I could not find it. I have spoken to various people and got different answers and none of them work. Problem is with a HDPVR 2p and DSD 1131 extra view setup. There are two cables to the 1131, LNB and Heart beat, and the conduit cannot accommodate a third cable. I need to do the following. HDPVR (Primary) coms channel set to RF Out. Cable from RF Out to a 1 to 2 splitter. Output 1 to a TV and output 2 to the HB cable. In the room where the Secondary DSD1131 decoder is, HB cable to a 1 to 2 splitter. Output 1 to RF IN on the 1131 and output 2 to the RF socket on the TV, via a TV-Link. I have been told that it can be done if you use splitters that pass DC to both outputs. I have tried that and still get an Extra View alert about communication error. I get the same results irrespective of whether I set the coms channel on the 1131 to RF IN or RF OUT, with the HB cable obviously connected to the appropriate connector. Please help.

Not sure I understand the purpose of the 2 x splitters? Surely you'd watch the HDPVR via HDMI and the 1311 off AV composite, don't see the need to wire up the TVs with RF input?

If you can draw a picture I am sure I can help better, but I agree with above, the DSTV extra view book is AMAZING, done really well.

When I set ours up we needed a DC block (on the RF out of the secondary decoder), but that was cause both decoders were sending power to the eye, (older SD decoder fault, the heart beat is linked to the eye power output).

Sorry, I am going to hijack this thread a little, but it is related, so bear with me. I had xtra view working a while back, but I cancelled my dstv for a while and switched a few things around in my lounge so moved a few cables around, now I can't seem to get it to work again...

Here's where I am currently:

I have a HD PVR, the 2P one, and a DSD1131. I have a quad LNB. The LNB runs to a multi switch and there are 2 cables running to the PVR from there and one to the DSD1131, into it's LNB in port. Then I have the heartbeat cable running from the RF-out on the PVR to the RF-in on the 1131. Both of these are set accordingly on their respective settings screens. The HD PVR works perfectly. The 1131 goes thru the channel scan but then it can't seem to find the heartbeat, WTF am I missing here?

If you have a multiswitch then I assume you have a dual LNB, if you had a quad you wouldnt need a multiswitch
What does the channel scan have to do with the heartbeat? Have you called DSTV & activated Xtraview with the decoders? They won't "talk" to each other if not
