I had to unplug a device but accidentally unplugged the Extraview decoder while it was still on.
When I plugged it back in just scans forever. It just keeps on saying "SCANNING".

I tried switching off and taking out the smartcard for a minute but this didnt help. I also tried the same with the main (HD PVR decoder) but this also didnt work.

The setup as follows: Extraview. PVR is main and all cables runs to the PVR. From there two cables (heartbeat(?) and signal cable I guess) runs to the other room where the extraview decoder is connected. (DSD1110).

This setup has been working for more than a year without problems and my setup and cable connections cannot be blamed. Any ideas?

Dont want to waste an hour on the phone and pay for the call If I can get an answer from this forum. :)
Many DSTV boffins on here. I'm sure somebody can help. My guess is that the heartbeat signal between the two decoders is messed up. Or the settings on the DSD 1110 decoder in the bedroom is lost. Unfortunately the DSTV menus are all greek to me and I dont even know the password to access the setup.

Check the connector on the signal cable. The cable can sometime pull out far enough to lose connection (but still look okay) when my maid's been in the area. Unscrew it and push the cable deeper so that the copper core is level with the silver part.

If it was the heartbeat you'd get past scanning but get a "Waiting for heartbeat from primary decoder" error.

Try reboot both at the same time (power down)

Why shut the other one down? Scanning issues are signal related and sounds like this is isolated to the secondary decoder.

OP, check the link between your multiswitch and the LNB input of the secondary decoder. You can also check with a multimeter, if the secondary decoder is putting out 12V or 18V on the LNB input...

Had this issue few times already, reboot main decoder, check pulse signal, power down secondary decoder and inert smartcard +- 10 seconds after switcing on, always works for me

Is it wise to insert the smartcard while the machine is booting up?
Should I reboot both decoders at the same time?
