My folks currently have an HD PVR which is heartbeating to a dual-view SD PVR1 giving them 3 channels in the house. They obviously pay the extra R60 a month for this facility which includes the PVR service. Now they want to buy one of those 1100 decoders for one of the rooms in the house so that that room can have access to the full bouquet at any one time and not have to share one of the other 3 channels.

The installer says that extra-view allows only 1 extra decoder to feed off the heartbeat from the HDPVR - which I disagree with. I am under the impression that DSTV allows me to have an 1100 in every room I want as long as they are receiving the heartbeat and they have a linked decoder!

Can someone back me up or set me straight?

Was hoping you wouldn't say that.... thanks... oh well..

There is a second tv out port on the back of the sd decoder. If you change the little wheel on the remote (from red to blue), you can control tv2.

I must say the XtraView setup is cumbersome I must say. 1110 + HD PVR = 2 channels to watch, 2 channels to record and 1 channel to actually rewind on... Lucky I got an SD PVR + HD PVR setup :D.
