DStv faces serious threats

fokkol will happen to dstv. there's a lot to be said to just switching on and watching tv. lots of people cant be arsed to worry about fibre/adsl for streaming. sorting out subscriptions. they just want to watch the telly.

if something goes tits up they scream at one person. not all the other service providers making up their streaming services. they don't need to sort out android tv boxes that have decided to just stop working. don't need to go look for that series download that just refuses to obey. scurry to re-subscribe to access the high seas. not to mention the support calls to the family idiot who was bold enough to set it up...

sit down. switch on. veg out.

sure in years to come as the traditionalists thin out they will suffer but i reckon there's more than enough people to keep them going in the meantime.

my mom is over 70. varied interests. she watches footy, loves the spiritual stuff, some soapies, a select genre of movies and for some odd reason the 'boere' programs on kyknet. she just sits down, surfs a bit and boom she locks on and is sorted. to cater for that with an alternate solution? no thank you. can afford the payment. i get dstv now with a bit of a backhand salute. all is well.

and in the alternate setup there's always a **** who keeps the show going while everyone else just switches on and enjoys the stuff. me, I'm that ****. lol...so I can appreciate the simplicity that dstv gives people...
Hello,

We have been trying to get a hold of you regarding the extended warranty/ insurance for your DSTV Decoder.

Thanks

You have no choice but to veg out, if you engaged your brain then you would realize you have seen all of those shows previously and they are just being repeated.
Heck I saw repeats of shows I had previously watched 4 YEARS after I cancelled DSTV when I was house sitting for my inlaws.

surprised people still use DSTV for anything other than sport.

For the longest time MNet was the benchment for larny TV. Even SABC 3 tried copying their content to stay relevant. Now honestly no one cares what they have to offer. Mostly because streaming service like Netflix, Amazon and HULU have quality tv with 4K offerings. Yes there’s bloatware but for R170 I’d rather have that problem. The only feather in their cap is sport. If they sold the public a dedicated sport app at an affordable price that’s segmented, it would make a killing. But foresight is a real problem at Multichoice.

DTSV is boring and expensive and needs to sell more affordable offerings. Don’t tell me about COMPACT. Invest in your app.

They were asleep at the wheel for decades and arrogance put them where they are today...btw, arrogance always but always destroys its creator in the end...

Rinse, repeat...same information for the same articles over the past 2 years.

Boo Hoo! DSTV you've been treating customers shabbily. Repeat after repeats, 3rd grade programmes, and more ads than programmes. Finally no concessions for pensioners.

There are other models, which could do well in SA...

ISPs here offer bundled products - fibre line, internet, telephone (if you want) and various TV bouquets - which are presented through a media hub that they manage for you... so great for the person who just wants to watch TV, and have one person to shout at, but have it all on demand rather than broadcast..

Jan, are you trying to manipulate the MULTICHOICE share price by any chance? Or did you not buy some at the low price of R75 last year? :D

we have been hearing this negativity about DSTV for a very long time, Guess it’s time to hire an actuary
