There is a thread on the R799 p/m Explora deal. Only reason I joined as I have a few questions.
I am on the verge of ordering the Explora to take over duties from my old Pace 4T.
1) Does the Explora come with a smart card with the purchase, or do I just use my existing card that is currently in my Pace 4T?
2) If I want to set-up a xtraview, can I make use of the (yet to be purchased) Explora, as well as my current Pace 4T
3) Will I be able to make use of both the Pace 4T, and the Explora, to record programming for later watching? And can the existing Pace 4T smartcard still be used?
4) Re (3) above, which decoder becomes the "primary" unit?
5) We currently use a TV link, with a co-ax cable running from the primary decoder in the lounge, to a second TV in the bedroom. The bedroom TV will of course only display the content that is as per the current lounge-based decoder (Pace 4T). Will we be able to have the same set-up if I buy the Explorer, and also use my existing Pace 4T?
6) We can currently change decoder channels using the DSTV remote from the lounge, and from the bedroom. Will the combination of my Pace 4T, plus a future Explora, provide me with the same capabilities?
1. It comes with its own smartcard
2. Yes
3. Yes you can record to both. The 4T will work with its own smartcard
4. Best to make Explora the primary. Then you can also connect it to the Internet and do remote recordings and get Catch Up Plus on the Explora
5. You can connect the two decoders through XtraView
6. Yes using the Explora remote
Hope that helps!
