For years I've been watching the 7 o clock news in Afrikaans, on Kyknet (channel 144) via the dstv Now Streaming platform. Now suddenly, I get a message that this news is not licenced for streaming. However, I can stream the news from ETV, SABC, CNN, Sky, Etc. It is only the Afrikaans news that is impacted by this new approach.

What’re you watching for? Didn’t you all destroy your dishes and decoders with Steve?

Edit: Forgot the mandatory; eeewww Dstv, gross. I torrent the news or just watch it on Netflix.

You're funny! Given that dstv channel 144 is kept in the top 2 tariff brackets, I would think that there are plenty people who watch it.

And I would switch to Netflix in a heartbeat if they streamed some of my wife's Afrikaans soapies

The same happened to me on Friday evening. This was the situation right in the beginning when I started using DstvNow - you couldn't watch KykNet Nuus. At the time I thought it had something to do with the news being affiliated to ENCA. It then became available. I sincerely hope this was a glitch last night - if not it is ridiculous!

Furthermore I get the feel that Afrikaans channels buffer more than the rest of the live channels available on DstvNow.

06:30 on channel 192. Only reason I have my decoder active, and Cricket on 193 when Proteas play in SA.

Hey Steve hofmeyr, It's a glitch.. that's all.

Net ter inligting: KykNet Nuus werk vanaand via DstvNow. 4/4/2020.

Lekker!

Think about it this way: Afrikaans is the only language other than english that as its own dedicated channels on dstv, so no, dstv doesn't hate Afrikaans people.

If I wanted to be a victim and you asked me to think I would strongly resist, if not thinking things through is what gives me the opportunity to be a victim why would I want to sabotage that?
