So far www.ntv.mx is the most viable DSTV alternative. Basically it is the UK Sky offering including 30 sport channels for about R225 for 30 days access. Nice XBMC integration as well.

Theres a few top tv boxes at makro and other outlets going for next to nothing . Do these become Star whatever on hook up,? There is also "open source" Tv decoder "pay once" and never pay again - whats this free to air channel I cant find a thread.
But Feck I am never getting DSTV again ever but need urgent replacement before my daughter stops talking to me entirely- need Disney channel replacement, cartoon network replacement and some kids movies.Personally I like news and discovery BBC lifestyle and some sport but I dont know what the solution is, given I have no adsl. Maybe there isn't a solution unless I cough up more airtime for data but what?
How/where did you watch it online and what was the quality like. I think that the Sky coverage is amazing.Well we finally took the plunge after the new increase as we got DSTV Premium in 2003 when SABC3 dumped the F1GP.
On the 1st April we switched to a cheaper option and I watched the F1GP online for the first time this past Sunday, wow what a difference, the detail and interviews with each driver and Team Principle afterwards, something DSTV never had.
Next step is to dump DSTV altogether.
1. Get uncapped ADSL
2. Get Netflix
3. ???
4. Happy daughter.
Well Ok but any way around not getting ADSL ? Promo data on vodacom?
