DSTV HD channel differance

If I switch between normal and HD channel, people seem to "stretch" in HD, any others experience the same, and can something be done?

Horizontally or vertically? Have you checked your ARC settings?

sounds like your aspect ratio is wrong, as per stevenv scroll through your ARC settings and see if that helps (use shift and tv guide buttons on your remote to do this)

Check your ARC (Aspect Ratio) settings - if you have the latest HD PVR remote, press the "Shift" button once so it flashes, then press the "TV Guide" button once to advance to the next ARC setting - you can do this up to 5 times, then it goes back to the first ARC setting.
Make sure your TV is set for 16:9, if you have a 16:9 TV

please clarify your meaning of "set the decoder everyday?" are you talking about the ARC setting?

Change your default setting to ARC 1, then you wont have to change it everyday

Like what specifically?

For the vast majority of movies & sport I've watch on the HD channels its pretty apparent the source content is HD (1280x720), although a few of the segments on DiscHD have looked a bit SDish.

I find that the DSTV 16:9 setting usually crops streams that are broadcast in 4:3 quite badly. It's a real pain having to switch between 16:9 and 4:3 depending on the channel you're watching.

Is your HDPVR not possibly set to ARC2 (Zoom)? I have no such probelm with ARC3/16:9 on HDPVR & 16:9 on TV.

Thanks for the tip. I have 16:9 on the PVR and TV, and my options for ARC are cropped, stretched, pillarbox and letterbox. Any idea which one it should be?

ARC3=Stretch (what I use)
ARC2=Zoom (assume same as cropped)
