My dstv is reading on my tv but the screen just stays black and there’s no sound , I tried rebooting it like over 10 times already nothing’s working , it shows the rebooting on the screen only but after that it just goes back to the black screen , the cables and everything is plugged in right , I’m in the right input as well
Really need some help

Which decoder model?
What LNB is installed in the Antenna?
Are you able to view the decoder on an alternative input to HDMI?
what happens when you press menu on the remote when the screen goes black?

It’s the HD decoder the small black one , I’m not able to view it on any other slot either I tried HDMI slot 1 & 2 , it’s shows a black screen on both , my decoder doesn’t even respond to my remote when I click buttons on the remote it doesn’t respond the light just stays green normally it flashes when you click on the remote but it doesn’t

Then the best is a trip to MC and probably a replacement. Get hold of the model number.

So a replacement is the only option ? damn I still wanted to watch friends this afternoon , I hope I get a new one before the champions league starts again thanks sm for your time guys

Try a different HDMI cable, I had what sounds like a similar issue and it ended up being a busted HDMI cable.

I’ve tried that aswell , I even tried it on my other tv too , same problem , it must be the decoder that’s just broken , but I haven’t even had it long like maybe 5 months only , can’t believe it broke so quick

I had a similar issue with the small explora a few weeks back. I switch off the decoder at the wall. Meant to be for 10 minutes but turned out to be hours. When i switched it back on it was fine.

It was showing a boot screen then loaded into just black. Remote didn't provide any response.

Would be hugely useful if you could post the model number. It is on the front panel as well as on the label at the back or underneath.

Take the power brick with you as well.

4U, 4S, 5U, 5S, 6U, 6S.
Oldest to latest versions. The latest versions are real cheap pieces of junk, so will not surprise me in the least if it is a 6U or 6S.

I’ve tried that too , I even left it off for a weekend when I left town , I came back and tried again same thing , but I’ll try again , no harm in it

The built-in surge protection on the HDMI ports is virtually non-existent. Hence any potential difference between the decoder and TV can be disastrous.
