DSTV HD Test Channels

Yeah so i was browsing throught the DSTV bouquets and found two HDTV test channels!!

Apparently its in 720p (the HDTST2 channel - 1st one didnt work for me) From what i saw, its just a continous loop of the final IRB Rugby World Cup match between SA and ENG

Quality looks decent, nothing spectacular but better than their normal broadcasting quality

This was viewed on my Panasonic 50" plasma btw

So ya...next time u watchin TV, have a look at them

wouldnt you need an hd decoder to actually notice a difference?

What is the point in testing it if the decoder is not HD compliant.......pointless is it not?

@ObeyTheDiode: Indeed yes.... however, i think its because i was at a bar watching that match on a crappy projector that night, and when testing this HDTV channel, it was on my beautiful Panasonic 50" Plasma haha so i didnt really have much to compare it to...

I just thought its interesting that they are testing HDTV channels and thought you guys might like to know about it also

it's not pointless cuz i'm sure the peeps that test it have the hd equipment.

I'm sure it WOULD look better simply because of the lower compression on the channel. Obviously one would need an HD decoder to get the full HD, but I'm pretty certain it would look better on a standard decoder
