So you have about 10 backrooms (flats) and would like to install dstv. Instead of each person having his own dish, you want to have one communal dish with everyone having their own decoder.

As the landlord, what is the cheapest option? Should every person have his own account? Does dstv have those business type accounts? Like the ones you have in hotel room and stuff?

I'm not sure of the limitations on each dish but with easiview you can use the same dish with 2 decoders.
More decoders I am not sure of though.

Wouldn't it be easier to just have one TV and then let them fight over what they want to watch?

Between Monochoice's T&C's and the hospital bill, I think the OPs suggestion might be better.

You can probably go for their business-type accounts, but I don't think they're cheap... maybe get a quote from them?

Yup, you can have one dish. Get an octo LNB or quad LNB going to multiswitches (depends whether some people will want PVRs & require 2 feeds)

Its probably easier to let everyone get their own account

Get a Quattro LNB and a 20-way multiswitch. Like this one... Run 2 cables to each unit. Let them sort out their own subs. Unless it is a hotel, hospital or retirement complex, DStv won't allow a commercial sub. Limited channels available anyway on commercial...

Thanks guys. I suppose I need to give monochoice a call. But yah, everyone will have to sort themselves out.

LOL.

Just call Space TV in Randburg and ask them to recommend a good installer. I linked to the Space TV website earlier.

Why do you need to call them? They won't instal it for you
I was referring to the custom commercial sub bit, which doesn't seem to be available unless hotel, hospital or retirement complex as per QT's post.

Just do the dish and cable installations, and let the tenants sort themselves out.

Cos if you want to run the show, expect phone calls on Saturdays and Sundays at any time.

Just not worth it.
