Hi All,

I have purchased another TV and would like to install a decoder on the second TV. I will not be subsribing to Xtraview as I think DSTV is waste of money and I watch most series and movies of my media server anyway.

This will be done purely for convenience and to avoid buying a blaster since I already have two decoders.

I have the following:
- Dual LNB
- 1x HD single view decoder
- 1x STD single view decoder.

The Goal:
To be able to change channels on the decoder in the room without having to buy a blaster to control the main decoder. I also understand that if this is possible, both tv's can only view one channel. I am happy with that.

Thx K

In other words you want to use the second decoder only as a remote blaster? It's possible in theory but a tvlink would be a lot easier and they're only around R150.

Also bare in mind that neither solution will allow you to control anything other than DSTV.

Just buy a TVlink... You cannot do anything with a second decoder, unless the XtraView subs are activated.

Really? A decoder won't relay remote commands unless subs are activated?

It's not so much the fact that it won't work (I don't know, as I've never tried), it's just the weirdest thing I've ever heard. He complains about the price of DStv, but he is happy to buy a decoder for R399 to change channels, when there is a R100 device that is made for that purpose.

Ja. It is a bit odd.

Hence my comment :)
