If DSTV had a streaming based subscription option, like Netflix, I would subscribe again if the pricing is reasonable.

So performance bonuses then to boost morale or...?

Like DSTV Stream? Price is meh though.
price is ok at R99/month

I was thinking about just leaving it active after I got my R19.95 world cup promotion, but it is the content that made me cancel rather than the price

I thought: "noice! I can watch the rugby world cup final, I can watch MotoGP and F1!"

only to discover the last two assumptions were incorrect, so bye DSTV stream

Can you watch it on a smart TV?
Yes, if you can install the app on it, no dish required. Can even watch on your phone. Packages from R99 to R799. Not sure how much data it uses though. It's also slightly behind on live sport. I think you used to automatically get app access if you were on a similar dish product.

you can, DSTV's app is in the Samsung app store for their smart TV's

that's how I watched the RWC final

Basically limited to one brand of TV.

Pricing is meh, in the words of theratman. Very unlike Netflix as you have to pay to unlock levels.

No thanks.

Honestly something a sub 1k tv stick sorts that. However the packages are way over priced as you need Premium to get the decent stuff. You can get maybe 3 other services for the same price.

If I was in their position I'd aggressively cut those prices or offer prepaid specials, and move over into the streaming game primarily. They are too greedy though.

They've also doubled the commercial license cost or something along those lines. Folks I've spoken to with commercial packages say it's crazy.

Edit, I see mybb did an article on it too. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/broa...-packages-including-a-massive-price-hike.html

Greedy and lazy to do proper research and implementation. It wouldn't be a surprise if they adjust prices to compensate for lost subs.

DSTV must also remember that half a million left South Africa due to reading MyBB articles submitted by world renowned business economics guru Dawie Roodt.

Why you say that? Runs fine on my LGs as well as Mi TV stick
