Dstv new channels

Today we noticed on the dstv iplate that 4 new inactive channels were added. They are 107, 116, 308 and 326. Does anyone know if this was a mistake or are the channels going to be added. In rest of Africa channel 116 is BET, 308 is Kidsco and 326 is Afro Music. when the multichoice guys were asked if the channels would be added they said they had saidthey can't comment. Does anyone know anything else. and also what might 107 be. Do you maybe know why channel 199 was put back?
 
Super sport is going to use four channels for world cup. Its Hd, 3 and probably 4. I know there is going to be a Blitz channel but why 199 and not 200 or 198?
 
I will not be watching Mzansi Magic ... but could the new 107 be Syfy channel? It would be well placed if it is ... after action and right next to Universal (sister channel!) I'm still trying to figure out 308 ... what childrens channel will it be .. kidsco (like Top TV) or Disney XD (But if it were XD then it would be on 304 ... so guess I'm wrong there)
 
SyFy will buy many a subscriber for Multichoice....Although if Top TV got it it would have been much better, as I figure most geeks aint too big on sports anyhow, unless it involves swords and spaceships and brooms.

200 is the normal Blitz channel, DSTV will run a dedicated WC Blitz channel, that's probably what 199 is.

I think that 116 will be another Africa Magic channel ... a while ago when DStv was left open for all the lower subscribers I notced a test channel 2 was an Africa magic channel ... checking the other 2 africa magic channels I realised the movie playing was not the same as the other 2. Does this mean we have to pay up for one more of those silly channels?

Monochoice are clearly targeting a certain demographic nowadays (soccer soccer soccer, r&b, r&b and more r&B).

Well its clearly Sci-fi, some of those wrestlers are clearly aliens... :D
 
It seems like one of the channels WILL NOT be the new Africa Magic because earlier this week all the channels were open and that channel was replaced Africa Magic Plus. An interesting note is that Trace Tropica is now there.

hhmmm...Soccer has a certain demographic? A global demographic perhaps?
One could say the same for some of the other channels as well (rugby rugby rugby, Koowe, MK and more KykNT)

Multichoice's soccer demographic is certainly not global as they only provide services in Southern Africa. From his comments it's fairly easy to deduce that he means MC are targeting black South Africans with channels such as BET, Afro Music, Africa Magic, etc.

I do share the same sentiment that people are sick of these sub-standard channels being added. Being a premium subscriber I expect better channels to be added to the bouquet, how about Syfy as most subscribers are always hoping for the return of this channel.

Yeah, well the problem is that even if we do get a SyFy (boy that's a retarded name) channel it would most likely be a crappy Africa specific one featuring outdated content and lame shows. In time the channel would change from showing old crappy sci-fi shows to mostly reality junk, like they did with Animax. There's hardly any anime on that channel anymore...

I still remember the old Sci-Fi channel. Remember what they showed on that one? The only shows I found worth watching were MST3K and the anime. And remember how they kept showing the same episodes over and over? A new SyFy channel will be more of the same I think. This is Monochoice after all. Can't really expect more from them.

True... although I simply mentioned that one as I know there are quite a few people after it. The closest we have to that right now is Mnet Action.

That's NO lie - I can't even be bothered to watch that channel any more now that it's filled with annoying reality shows (the only shows I can stomach are Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke, they are after all Japanese!).

Fact is I would also love to have SyFy (gah! why did they change the name anyway?) , but you know that what we'll really get is the original Star Trek, Space 1999, Buck Rogers, etc. Because: This. Is. Monochoice.
 
Why not get rid of some of the BS channels and add more HD content? Why is there a horse racing channel? Who watches Africa Magic? It is very much like the foam "kaaskrulle" inside a box - just filling.
