DStv now app on Android TV isn't not Playing. I'm using my phone as a WiFi router and it always gives me an error message: "you are using mobile data "
It gives Me 2 options , to close or continue. The problem is the cursor never moves no matter how much you try to navigate to select the options.
If it does move , it kicks me totally out of the DStv now app.

After several calls and social media posts , DStv has failed to fix this issue.
Anyone with bright ideas out there please help.

Here is my conversation with DStv:Social media

Chromecast.
Chromecasting is fine but it eats into your data and it's not how it's supposed to work. The app is supposed to work . I'm using the #TelkomFreeme 50gig data and the rain simcard.

DSTV has never supported wifi hotspots using mobile data.
I also tried until I gave up.
The DSTV Now Kodi addon in this forum by the way did support wifi hotspot mobile data connections, so try and see if it still works.

How do they know? IP address?

I don't think it is by IP Address.
It must be that Mobile Data, Wifi connections, LAN connections broadcast differently and they detect it that way.
Eg. Asphalt, an Android game doesn't work over ethernet connections but works over wifi connections.
There are patches you can add to Android's source code to trick it into thinking ethernet data transmission is being done over wifi then these games can work correctly. I havn't heard anything about mobile data transmission but it must work in a similar way and there must be something Android checks to determine it's mobile data instead of wifi data. If you use DSTV Now on a phone with a rain simcard it works, but not with a wifi hotspot.
Maybe using a VPN will help but I don't think so.

That's quite strange and confusing. Never seen or experienced such.
