DStv Now HD streaming imminent

I will believe it when I see it and non of this 720P 1500kbps nonsense.

I guess MonoChoice can offer HD sport and HD movies because they use encryption and CAM.
This explains why MonoChoice don't want encryption and CAM on ZA DTT...

but 720P is HD

The "stream" might be 720, but they stream, like, 640 via that 720.
It's so fcking frustrating when you see the commentators and ads in "glorious 720" and then when the game starts it's pixelated AF.
(Commenting on the stream via the website and on sport/rugby, specifically.)

but 720P is HD

Unless they use HEVC low bitrate 720p might technically be HD be it looks horrible.

The same way a couple of years back YIFY was technically HD but it was so compressed and low bitrate it looked worse than a proper high bitrate 480P encode.

Well I will believe it when I see it. I am using a Chromecast Gen 2 and I have a 20mb fibre line. Netflix stream is crystal clear, no buffering. DSTV Now buffers like there is no tomorrow.

I would rather they leave it as is. They already cant keep this SD stream going seamlessly next thing you know its off completely if they start with "HD"

What is the current resolution of DSTV Now?

As far as I know, DSTV's HD is either compressed low quality 720p or compressed low quality 1080i (note: not 1080p)

And here I am streaming Netflix, youTube and Amazon Prime in 4K HDR via a 20mb line.

Mono simply doesn't want to broadcast HD. They'll rather try to convince us that their "amper" quasi hd is the big deal :wtf:

Will they be able to keep up with the demand?

MCs broadcasts are 1080i.
MCs streaming services to date have been far from ideal.
Really nothing to do with whether it is 720p, 1080i.

Good luck to all who want to use the service.
