Dstv now on Android TV box problems

Ematic issue solved. Uninstall DStv app to factory version 1. Try open DStv from main menu and it will automatically give you the option of updating. This will install version 2.4.5. You will then be required to type the activation code into now.dstv.com/tv and it sorts the problem out

You uninstall the app under setting, apps, and uninstall to factory version.

I have done this exact procedure on 2 Ematic boxes and they are still stuck both on a Black screen. Cannot view anything. This indicates that on the Ematic boxes not all is well with update version 2.4.5 and it certainly does not resolve the problem for me.

I reckon we gonna have to be patient until a new update fixes this. Hopefully before the weekend.

I have installed version 2.4.5 on my Mibox S and it is working perfectly! Could the problem not be relevant to the Ematic box?

Not sure, so between Ematic and Dstv they need to sort it out. Because there quite alot of chatter about this Im confident they aware and looking into it.
 
Ematic 419 Android Box Dstv Streaming good news. Firmware version 9.0.17

Finally some success. Unplugged Ematic box from main power and left overnight for 8 hours. Powered up and uninstalled old version and restart the box. Updated DSTV app with latest update v2.4.5 and re-linked with a new code via dstv.com/tv. Working perfectly with a brand new speedier interface.

I am sure DSTV did something to make it work after 1000's of complaints! Did not work at all last night after countless efforts. Tried everything

Now working like a dream. Interface slightly different but much better in my opinion. Quality also looks better. Something new I saw is that previously when it is closer to buffer the pixels distort and quality is horrible for 10 -15 seconds and then resolution is restored. Now when this happens blank screen with turning wheel for 3-5 seconds then crystal clear picture again.

Lets hope it will continue to work now going forward.
 
Thank you so much to everyone who started and replied on this thread... The Dstv app is one of the most pathetic apps I have ever come across. I've been having such issues with it on my Mibox, last night it would just go back to the home page in the middle of a programme, but still be playing the audio in the background!!??
Thanks to this thread, I disabled Auto-Updates, and I have installed one of the old APK's... I checked 2.4.2 and 2.3.19 and it is actually scary how the older version's picture quality is SOOO much better than 2.4.2 or even the latest version with all its bugs.
I'd highlight recommend using 2.3.19 on Mibox until the latest version is fixed (if ever)
 
I have downloaded and installed version 2.4.5 and it is working very well!

I am using an uncertified box Mxq pro 4k cannot get app from play store .it worked for the past 5 years.Kodi updated from 19.4 to 20 could this be the problem

If you're following the discussion in the Kodi thread here on MyBB, then you would know that its something the devs need to sort out on their side. MC modified something on their end that broke the Kodi app. So yeah, either try side loading the DSTV app as suggested, or buy a certified Android TV box and load the DSTV app on that and use it while you wait for Kodi support to be fixed.
