Is this supposed to be surround ?

I'm trying a few random titles on Catch Up and they all come up as 2 channel ... yet Netflix, Amazon etc are 5.1

Nope, 2 channel, DSTV Now and Showmax.

Not on the decoders themselves, they are Dolby digital. But think maybe he apps are limited?
 
Odd though it's probably designed like that cause of phone or tablet usage?

Dolby Digital Plus starts at 192kbps so it's not like that's a lot either but they probably don't really care for the 52 people that will actually use it.

That test stream they had was good quality so they can do it, they probably want to have 4K supersport streams next year.
 
Oh I don't doubt that a test is set up and works. Every one plays ball. It is once the setup is put into production. Then the experts move on and leave it to the incompetent untrained masses. And they then screw it all up.
 
Is this still the same? Trying DSTV Now and Showmax on my LG TV is still only producing 2.1
