DSTV on PC LCD ?

Hey,

Anybody know how to get the DSTV signal from a normal type DSTV box to a Samsung P2770H which has DVI/VGA etc. inputs?

I've tried to research it and believe I need a TV Box thing, can anyone steer me in the right direction wrt to the components I need plsss??

I suppose I'll need to convert the RGB to one of the lcd inputs and say, a 1/4 inch jack for some 2.1 speakers..

Help mucho appreciado!
 
Either a computer with a TV capture card... i.e. Decoder --> PC --> Screen

+1 on Compro, regardless whether it is a set-top box, USB box, PCI TV card, PCI-E, etc.

I would go with a set-top box (no need for PC) or a PCI/-E TV card. USB has its limitations.

Oh, if you want a PCI/-E card, I've heard the Hauppauge's are excellent, perhaps better than Compro. You basically just run your video (satellite/aerial cable, that would usually plug into your TV) and audio (probably RCA) to your TV card, and there you have TV on your PC/LCD.

Plasma would be better for SD TV (and sport)...

Thanks y'all, I think I'd prefer a stand alone set-top box, and avoid going through pc..

Think I need to find one that upscales to 1080p in order to match the monitors res. and avoid picture degradation when the monitor stretches out say 1440x900 to its 1920x1080..

That hdmi one will do that for me from what I can tell going by it's features..

Still trying to get this thing working, ..also it only has Dsub/VGA, so no luck with the P2770H which only has DVI/hdmi, ..and there's no Dsub to DVI convertor that I'm aware of.. Sigh, should've bought the Mecer/Proline 32"! I never stop f'ing up! ;)

I've posted on their forums, going to have to make do with trying to get it to work on the 2333SW which has Dsub..

Probably sell the second P2770H, still sealed in box, full warranty..
 
Receiving a Composite RCA to Hdmi converter/upscaler and 50cm Hdmi cable on the moro!

Hopefully this will soothe my woes. At least now I have a benchmark to compare it against, as the Compro was so craaaaap it made me rage X)

I'll report on the quality.
 
Ah beautiful, MUCH better, hdmi converter from HDCabling works much better.

Shott! Ye I'm super happy with the 27" (prob only sit 2.5m away), going larger than 32" with just a normal RCA output from the decoder would start to look a lil choppy (especially at that distance) I reckon.

..Also got a lil 2.1 stereo action going on, makes such a huge difference.. stokage.

If there was a sport dedicated button on the remote, it would be covered in dust, and under the dust it wouldn't even have the slightest finger print or outer layer of molecules rubbed away! ;)

Nah not that bad ;), I'll watch a bit of mma, world's strongest man, some random type stuff.
 
To get DSTV onto a PC monitor, get a MECER LT291HD from Matrix Warehouse
