DStv opens up HD channels to all subscribers

Hmmm... I wonder what they got up their sleeve. Nothing is for free nowadays, so there must be some motivation for DSTV to suddenly open up HD channels to everybody?
 
Desperate times calles for Desperate measures :D

They don't have a monopoly no more and now they are trying their damnest to keep up with the massive loss of subscribers. Personally I know of 4 households who cancelled DSTV and switched to an streaming solution Like Roku and the likes. I even helped 2 of them set it up. It's sad really.
 
It'd definitely be more value for me if they drop the PVR access fee - this costs them nothing. HD was just them making premium "nicer" and elite.

Co-worker stopped his dstv too.. went Netflix.

Thanks for the fix but my kids use the pvr access almost daily, so guess I'll just keep coughing up for now. I've canclled my subscription so many times before but keep coming back for the sports.
 
I don't think Netflix is the cause here. The Explora, on the other hand, is not selling. Or perhaps it is in preparation for a single-view HD decoder only, although this does not make financial sense.

You could always get the HD without the PVR fee.
