DSTv porn possibility backlash

Idiots complaining about porn on TV...

Why would Jannie from the local NG kerk worry if porn is on a channel he has to tune to to watch the "disgrace"? Is he worried that he may falter and tune in to it? Is this a test of his character?

Democracy and freedom comes with a price - and this is it.

Where do I subscribe?

Only the really hardcore stuff like your Hustler - but walk into almost any CNA, look for the biggest gathering of males in the magazine section, and you've found the adult section, hehehe!

The Bible is explicit on porn!

Quote please.

You asked for a quote (as opposed to "moral posturing by the Church") well here it is - the Bible is explicit on porn:

The Message (MSG)
Ezekiel 23v 11-18 "Her sister Oholibah saw all this, but she became even worse than her sister in lust and whoring, if you can believe it. She also went crazy with lust for Assyrians: ambassadors and governors, military men smartly dressed and mounted on fine horses—the Assyrian elite. And I saw that she also had become incredibly filthy. Both women followed the same path. But Oholibah surpassed her sister. When she saw figures of Babylonians carved in relief on the walls and painted red, fancy belts around their waists, elaborate turbans on their heads, all of them looking important—famous Babylonians!—she went wild with lust and sent invitations to them in Babylon. The Babylonians came on the run, fornicated with her, made her dirty inside and out. When they had thoroughly debased her, she lost interest in them. Then she went public with her fornication. She exhibited her sex to the world.

And the result is a bit more of the crime we already experience here in SA (rape, murder, robbery): (There is always a consequence for sin and here it is in Ezekiels 23v22-48)

The Message (MSG)
Ezekiel 22-27 "'Therefore, Oholibah, this is the Message from God, the Master: I will incite your old lovers against you, lovers you got tired of and left in disgust. I'll bring them against you from every direction, Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all Assyrians—good-looking young men, ambassadors and governors, elite officers and celebrities—all of them mounted on fine, spirited horses. They'll come down on you out of the north, armed to the teeth, bringing chariots and troops from all sides. I'll turn over the task of judgment to them. They'll punish you according to their rules. I'll stand totally and relentlessly against you as they rip into you furiously. They'll mutilate you, cutting off your ears and nose, killing at random. They'll enslave your children—and anybody left over will be burned. They'll rip off your clothes and steal your jewelry. I'll put a stop to your sluttish sex, the whoring life you began in Egypt. You won't look on whoring with fondness anymore. You won't think back on Egypt with stars in your eyes.

28-30 "'A Message from God, the Master: I'm at the point of abandoning you to those you hate, to those by whom you're repulsed. They'll treat you hatefully, leave you publicly naked, your whore's body exposed in the cruel glare of the sun. Your sluttish lust will be exposed. Your lust has brought you to this condition because you whored with pagan nations and made yourself filthy with their no-god idols.

31-34 "'You copied the life of your sister. Now I'll let you drink the cup she drank.

"'This is the Message of God, the Master:

"'You'll drink your sister's cup,
a cup canyon-deep and ocean-wide.
You'll be shunned and taunted
as you drink from that cup, full to the brim.
You'll be falling-down-drunk and the tears will flow
as you drink from that cup titanic with terror:
It's the cup of your sister Samaria.
You'll drink it dry,
then smash it to bits and eat the pieces,
and end up tearing at your breasts.
I've given the word—
Decree of God, the Master.

35 "'Therefore God, the Master, says, Because you've forgotten all about me, pushing me into the background, you now must pay for what you've done—pay for your sluttish sex and whoring life.'"

36-39 Then God said to me, "Son of man, will you confront Oholah and Oholibah with what they've done? Make them face their outrageous obscenities, obscenities ranging from adultery to murder. They committed adultery with their no-god idols, sacrificed the children they bore me in order to feed their idols! And there is also this: They've defiled my holy Sanctuary and desecrated my holy Sabbaths. The same day that they sacrificed their children to their idols, they walked into my Sanctuary and defiled it. That's what they did—in my house!

40-42 "Furthermore, they even sent out invitations by special messenger to men far away—and, sure enough, they came. They bathed themselves, put on makeup and provocative lingerie. They reclined on a sumptuous bed, aromatic with incense and oils—my incense and oils! The crowd gathered, jostling and pushing, a drunken rabble. They adorned the sisters with bracelets on their arms and tiaras on their heads.

43-44 "I said, 'She's burned out on sex!' but that didn't stop them. They kept banging on her doors night and day as men do when they're after a whore. That's how they used Oholah and Oholibah, the worn-out whores.

45 "Righteous men will pronounce judgment on them, giving out sentences for adultery and murder. That was their lifework: adultery and murder."

46-47 "God says, 'Let a mob loose on them: Terror! Plunder! Let the mob stone them and hack them to pieces—kill all their children, burn down their houses!

and the New Testament also comments on sexual sin here:

Galatians 6v8For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.u

So how about pointing out God's law that bans Porn?

or are you like most who accept the Churches Moralistic posturing as Gods Law?

Oh yes, God's law does ban Porn, please see reply to Kosmik just above this in the thread!

Actually for all your quoting, it just speaks about adultery, idol worship and sacrifice. Intreresting that a one post wonder answers too lol.

You asked for a quote (as opposed to "moral posturing by the Church") well here it is - the Bible is explicit on porn:

If the Message is supposed to be explicit and use contemporary terms why doesn't it just say that "God hates pornography" That to me is explicit, not a long winded passage that is difficult to undertsand, even in contemporary verse.

You quoted from "The Message" because its supposed to be a contemporary update on the traditional bible (see Wikipedia)

The Bible is very clear on these things. No interpretation needed!
The Messge is exactly that: an interpretation of the bible, because christians are too daft to understand the tradtional one. The Message IS NOT the Bible.

And the result is a bit more of the crime we already experience here in SA (rape, murder, robbery): (There is always a consequence for sin and here it is in Ezekiels 23v22-48)[/B]

So because of porn we have rape, murder and robbery? Rape, MAYBE, but how the heck do you get to murder and robbery? So poverty and lack of education are not factors for robbery and murder, and its all porn's fault? They don't have money to buy a porn channel!

Here's my theory: Porn is good. It prevents rape, adultery promotes celebacy because people can "get it on" without hurting anybody else in the privacy of their own home.

Don't preach to me. I gave up 15 years of my life to going to church, EVERY SUNDAY, going to cell groups and really getting involved in church life. Long story short, after 5 years of a very painful marriage (married a "church" girl), never hearing from my "loving cell group members" again as divorcee, I decided I wasted 15 years of my life and 5 years of a very expensive marriage.

I took control of my life and I'm the happiest man alive, having a married for the 2nd time, to a girl that isn't a brainwashed, church going hypocrit. We met on the internet, fornicated before marriage, realised we had a good thing and married her.

Glad you're happily married.

Sorry, I didn't mean to preach - just gave "quote" as requested by a few people on here.

Bible versions - a bit off the subject, yes it would be great to read in the original texts (did you when you were a Christian?) have a friend who does that but I'm glad I can access all versions on www.biblegateway.com and not have to study 2 Ph.D's in ancient languages like said friend.

?? And what does that have to do with the price of cheese. I wasn't being sarcastic so if you can't come up with a better rebuttal than that you won't be long on here.

Telling me I'm a "one post wonder" is not being sarcastic? Nice, friendly welcoming bunch on this forum - wow - now I am DEFINITELY here to stay! Maybe you just can't handle an opposing view too well. My goodness me you are rude. And unkind to newcomers. I was simply trying to give a "quote" which you didn't read because all YOU got from it was "adultery".

the Bible is explicit on porn
# Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins.
# Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus.
# Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries.
# How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!
# This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.
# I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;

Song of Songs and Pornography....

hmmm reads like a soft core mills and boon

I can't answer that better than Peter J Leithart (on www.leithart.com) :

The Song [of Songs] is erotic poetry. Is it pornography? Carey Walsh (Exquisite Desire) rightly says No. But what’s the difference?

Walsh suggests several differences. Erotic writing forms empathy with the lovers by exploring desire and internal psyche, the psychology of wanting. Pornography reduces people to objects, and body parts. Erotic writing, further, honors time; it is about waiting and yearning; porn can’t wait. Pornography, for the same reason, is repetitive; it’s only about the sex act itself, over and over again. Erotica is about the “quality of the time spent waiting.”

The Song describes sex in metaphorical terms; it is “not trying to solve the mystery of love but rather is heightening the wonder.” For this reason, erotica plays off the imagination: the Song “uses allusions and metaphors that force the reader to slow down and feel them” and thus “teases” and “draws the reader into the feelings of desire being described.” Porn doesn’t have time for metaphor. It doesn’t heighten wonder but strips sex to bodies in motion.

In short, erotica is about desiring, yearning human persons; pornography is about sexual machines.

wee bit confused here
Pornography reduces people to objects, and body parts.
Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins.

Erotic writing, further, honors time; it is about waiting and yearning;
I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof

...sounds like the exact same thing to me
The Song describes sex in metaphorical terms; it is “not trying to solve the mystery of love but rather is heightening the wonder.” For this reason, erotica plays off the imagination: the Song “uses allusions and metaphors that force the reader to slow down and feel them” and thus “teases” and “draws the reader into the feelings of desire being described.” Porn doesn’t have time for metaphor. so if i say the woman's TuTu is like a river of gushing water... i'm speaking metaphorically and it's ok VS the woman's TuTu is trobbing with anticipation.

Perhaps you need to read up on what sarcasm is. That isn't sarcasm it was just an observation.

Also I take offence to you saying we didn't read it. I didn't get pornography from it. I saw no mentioning of images of naked people. Perhaps I missed it. Could you point it out?
