DSTV PRICING FOR INSTALL

Seriously you were ripped off I know of an installer friend that does the same tactic.

A) You should of gone to your local retail store like Pick N Pay and buy the decoder with a free installation voucher and were they accredited installers for DSTV as well ? even a voucher for DUAL VIEW would cost around R1170 excluding decoder.

I hope it wasn't a nigerian crock

my friend.. i dunno hey.. their ads appear on the bottom of this forum!!!

And their website shows accredited by DSTV.

just lank wrong

SO i spoke to them today.. what a joke...

I get told the R350 was for the Heart Beat or something.. not sure about that but they were not upfront about it, the other was R720 for 40 meters of cable.. he told me there is 2 lines going to the bedroom so i dunno. never the less tomorrow i am climbing in the roof to measure... I still feel R18 per meter is a joke though!

I would lodge a complaint with the Consumer Commission, and with DSTV...

They sold you an XtraView package.... the R350 for a heartbeat connection should have been included in the price, since an Xtraview setup won't work without it.

R18p/m is beyond a joke... its daylight robbery.

One thing do dis u pay for the dish or do dstv still have those 500 bucks speci, and did they install a dual lnb ?

I did my own installation and it worked out about

1000 bucks for the decoders
450 for the dual lnb
And 150 bucks for 30 meters of cable at dstv themselves used 60 meters didnt have to install a heartbeat thingy as the decoder does it self
Wait, what?

The bold text leads me to believe you've got an XtraView setup. You HAVE to have a heartbeat between the decoders otherwise you'll get billed for two separate feeds!

Given the quality of its English.. I'm not entirely sure it understands basic contracts and such like things, since they'll be complete gibberish to it without any mxit speak.

This story is hilarious and sad at the same time. I got my TopTV installed for R500 all inclusive.

I don't understand why this needs so much drama

Either (1) the installation has already been done, was quoted at R1700 but then was charged at R1700 + R1070 which you then paid or (2) the work has been done and you haven't paid or (3) you just got a quotation for R1700 + R1070 while the advert was for R1700.

If (1) accept that you shouldn't have paid when the invoice was so much higher than the quotation. In theory they should've checked with you before doing the additional R1070 work but you also should've queried the increased cost before paying.

If (2) then don't pay the additional and argue that it should've been included in the quotation. If they argue back, tell them to come and take their stuff away at no cost to you. Then proceed to (3).

If (3) then get a new quotation from someone else.
