why can't it rewind? instead of skiping back to previous tracks, ie programs?

anyone know??

try pressing pause first and see if that works/helps?

AFAIK the PVR allows you to pause Live TV, it doesn't allow you to go back in time :D :p

If it really cannot rewind, then it truly is a POS.

Buy a decent PVR.

Of course it can rewind but as soon as someone comes out with a better PVR that will let me record one channel and view another two then I'll get right on it. :)

It can rewind. While playing something back, or watching live, push the play/pause toggle switch to the left, and hold it while it rewinds at <<< speed. Letting go resumes play.

Or press pause to pause it, then while paused, press the toggle switch to the left once, for single speed rewind, again for << speed and again for <<< speed. I think. Not at home now to check... :) Press pause once to stop the rewind, then pause again to resume play.

R.

Not perhaps a piece of toast or a lego-block stuck in the thing? I get that all the time... :D

Windows media center can do this I think, just needs a card that supports it?

can probably record one channel and let you watch one other channel. whereas with the PVR when recording, you can watch programs seperate to what you are recording both on TV1 and TV2.

Maybe it's possible with 3 TV cards?

As soon as DSTV has three things I would like to watch in a month, let alone simultaneously, it may be worth getting the PVR. ;)

become a sports fan. then it becomes well worth it.

lol.
But seriously - That is like saying I should take up religion and have another couple of channels to watch too.

If one is "sports mad", then yeah - DSTV is probably worth it. But for the rest of us it is a waste of money.
DSTV is probably still trying to work out how to show ONLY sport reruns.
:p

Does this already. So when you getting yours lol?

You should be looking at whats on offer overseas, since you are moving. Hows that packing going? :D

if the tivo does this then I'm ready to have a look. What model?

Its not the tivo.

I dunno the model number, its the standard PVR DSTV hooks you up with.

Sounds like the one I currently have.

Perhaps it got a bit confusing but Moederloos was suggesting that an alternative to the DSTV model might be in order - my response was that if someone else has come out with an alternative I'd have a look at it provided it has the same features/capabilities as the DSTV PVR.

Take the hard drive out and just rewind it by hand! :D make sure you go all the way back to the beginning of the drive though. ;)

It might be quicker instead to turn it upside down and fast-forward it.
