Hi i am curious to find out if the HD Pvr decoder hardrive can be formated for normal PC use and placed in a enclosure.

Thanks hope to buy some old PVR decoders from a Repo as i believe these decoders cant be used without owners consent.

@ziggy8 : If you willing to sell 1 of the HD PVR's as is, please pm me as I'm looking for me.

Thanks alot.

It is a 500Gb hard disc. In the UK, you get 2 versions of the Sky HD box, one has a 1000Gb HDD. It is formatted differently from NTSC or Linux, although I put one in a Linux box and mounted it. Could not see any data on it, just thousands of small files 100000jxgdggg2333 etc

Oh, is that it? The Linux screen did not show a partition size but it showed me 3 different volume names

So why would you try and replace the HDD from another PVR? Can't you simply use the alternative PVR?

No it is not possible ( easily) to replace the HDD in any of the later PVR supplied by MC after the SD PVR. The 2P is still supported by MC so I am finding some difficulty understanding why you would even try to do this.

Just take the faulty HD PVR2P to MC and get them to either swap the drive (which they may not even want to do), and get a refurbished HD PVR2P from them.

@Jaco8,

What PVR do you have?

The Title says it all

Hi sorry only saw your post now like your name says I tried
to be a Mcguywer and fix it my self and now I can't go and exchanges
it because I broke the seal.
That's why I am trying to find out how or what I can do.

The seal means nothing if it is out of warranty. If on a DCC, they will moan a bit. If not under a DCC, then they will moan a bit but will still swop it out for the minimum fee.
