will the decoder still work? will i only lose the watch one channel and record another channel functionality? thinking of putting it in and checking if the quality of the picture is improved.

I have a SD PVR and a portable single LNB dish that i use when i go on holiday and i dont have any problems with it.

dont really smaak to do the install and money is tight at the moment so this could be a good temp solution for me. no install fees needed.

you can buy a SATCR LNB (from SpaceTV). Simply unscrew your old single LNB and replace with SATCR LNB. It only uses 1 cable and goes into tuner 1 on the HD PVR. I've been using it since the HD PVR launch and can watch 1 and record 2 with no problem. I don't know why this isn't the recommended setup.

Probably due to the cost of the SATCR LNB.

Mine cost R 600, but I believe they're selling them at approx. R 800. If you self-install, it still beats having many cables going into your house. If you have an installation voucher it obviously makes sense to rather use the voucher.

that does sound like the easiest solution. so if i can split my single lnb and put that into the pvr 2p i should be able to record as well? this is awesome news..:D

does anybody have an idea where i can buy this in the bellville/tygervalley area. cant really go to ellies in pinelands during lunchtime. kuils river will be even better. i will go check by game first. maybe they surprise me.

looking for a satellite splitter and a pack of RF connectors

Besides the recording conflicts, you will also have problems with your EPG. If you run a second cable yourself and install a twin LNB, you can upgrade for under R400 (excluding decoder cost).

Because of it's many limitations. You can only run one decoder from the SatCR feed. If you have XtraView, you need to run a second cable anyway. Now a twin with a switch becomes more versatile and cost effective.

Space TV Brackenfell Industria... c/o Viben and Beatrix.

Game sells the twin lnb plus 20m cable for R499. bit steep. on a side note, makro is selling the pvr + drifta combo for R1499, doing a price beat at game :)

There must be some drawbacks, but since Aug 2008 I haven't experienced any of what you mention. I don't use XtraView, have the Pace 4Tuner PVR and use the PVR to its fullest extend (record 2 and at the same time watch BoxOffice). I might just be lucky.

The twin LNB option is then the safest and a more future proof option.

You will not experience it, because SatCR gives you full funcionality. I'm just saying it is not the best solution in most cases.

Indeed...

You can split a single LNB into 2x and connect both on your PVR. You'll only be able to record or watch if the channels you're watching/recording have different polarisation.

I'm running a single LNB split into 2x at home atm. The SO gets VERY irate when her stories don't record in the background. So much so, she sets an autotune with every record. So yes - you're really down to 1 channel.
