DSTV Season Pass

Anyone know when this will be implemented? Apparently they piloted it ages ago.

I imagine he means you get a pass for certain matches or sports.
eg I only want dstv for the formula1 races - so only pay for that instead of the whole R500 bouquet.

I never heard of them piloting such a thing. - infact multichoice would be rolling on the floor at even the suggestion imho

Oh I'd love that; but I doubt it would happen because it would slice their earnings big time.

Nope, basically if you want to record say CSI, when you select to record it you have an option to record every episode in the season. Same with sport events, soapies etc.

Hence the phrase "Season Pass" as you get the whole season

They pushed a season pass capable firmware to certain subscribers that signed up for the testing phase. A friend of mine has it and I'm very jealous.

I have Season Pass capability on my Tivo (works in S.A), its one of the major things keeping me far away from the Multichoice (NoChoice) PVR. There are so many great features that those PVRs have that Multichoice disables. Check out their forums and you will see exactly how little goes on in terms of development. The PVR has been here long enough now that they could have got to grips with the technology and made those features available to the public. But when you have no competition - who cares?
