DSTV Self-Service : Does It Actually Work ? How ?

I cancelled my DSTV Premium some time ago, but I still have an active account with them, and my dish and decoder still works, although I have no services at the moment.

I just resent having to pay more than R700 per month for one or two sports events, they don't have anything else worth watching.

BTW I watched FIFA WC2014 on SABC, so that was OK. That was old-fashioned analog.

But sometimes I want to watch other stuff, like the Sharks game yesterday. I can stream it, but more often than not the quality is not great.

Supposedly you can switch the service on and off again after events, and just pay pro-rata, but I cannot find anything about this on the DSTV website.

My Self-Service option on DSTV has never worked, in spite of numerous phone calls and e-mails. IMO this service is just plain defective and cannot possibly work. Has anyone ever managed to get this to work ?

BTW, I am registered on the DSTV forum, but am blocked from creating threads or posting. Not sure why, but this means that I cannot raise this issue on their website.

So, the only way that I can have any admin done on my service is to phone them, which is a PITA.

Any ideas on the Self Service ?
 
I do. Go to http://selfservice.dstv.com/ and register yourself on website with your Smartcard so you can access to your account which you can change the package and pay online which the dstv will active in 10 minute. :)

Done all that years ago.

Just does not work, cannot change anything.

And has never worked.

Have complained numerous time, no response.
 
Really? the best way go to your multichoice office and they can sort it out for you for Selfservices?

Don't really see what they can do that the online support staff cannot do.

That said, nothing works yet and this has been going on for years.

Can't decide who has the worst service, DSTV or Joburg Metro, have problems with both of them that have been outstanding for years.

Joburg Metro one involves a lot more money, though.
 
You cannot change your package there. Pretty much useless unless they make this work.
 
Mine works but I use it very rarely and I think you are only allowed to switch off the service once a month.

I can change packages, activate/deactivate packages, add/remove decoders, add services like HD, PVR functionality etc.

Its actually pretty good IMO but I have heard of many people having issues.

There is also a holiday package which I understand is fully pro rata without the only once a month limitation but that has to be linked to an existing package.

IMO it is because I have a really old, legacy account.

Did you upgrade or downgrade. I downgraded from Premium to Compact, and the I had to enable the Walka Stand-alone package. I did this in April.
