On Friday at about 6 pm my decoder lost the ability to pick up any of the shows that I wanted to watch, from any of the BBC Prime/Entertainment through to news channels.
I first tried phoning the Durban number (031 710 2222) but it was constantly engaged, so at about 6:45 I went to their website...AHA!! Register first...yes, quite, I am still waiting for the registration email and it is now Sunday morning...anyway, I did finally fill in a form where they said they would call me right back....yes, quite, as I said, it is now Sunday morning.
I then phoned every number listed as a contact on the web, starting with their cell number and continuing down the list...every one was engaged.
Finally, out of pure desperation, I tried the Durban number at about 8:30 and viola! It rang...after fighting with the ridiculous computerised system that tries to prevent you from talking to a human at all costs, whilst it runs up Rands and cents on your phone bill, I got hold of a human girl who asked me for my ID number, asked me my problem and then promptly put me on hold for another 7 minutes before another human girl answered...went through a number of checks and finally told me that she couldn't help me.....no more TV on Friday.
For some reason or other the system rectified itself overnight, and I was actually able to watch some shows yesterday, though the BBC based ones are all starting to break up as if I'm in the middle of a thunderstorm.
What the hell is the matter with Dstv???!
Do the not realise that they are no longer the only kids on the block, or are they just going to screw existing customers into the ground, because it is South Africa after all and as consumers we would rather all lie down and die than put up any sort of fight!!!!
