DSTV signal dropping constantly :(

Two years later and the same issues are back...

Anyone else having issues with DSTV signal lately? Strength and quality jumping from 0-60 and 0-100 constantly. :( R500/month. Awesome.

Sounds more like an installation issue than anything else. PM me if you want me to refer you to a good reliable installer in your area.

The thing is, as before, it is perfect for literally months. Then it gets bad, really bad. And then it just fixes itself...

What to blame? Bad weather at the source of the signal? Sunspots? I've heard it all before :(

It could be a lot of things. The two things you've just mentioned is not the reason though. Basically the things to look at is dish alignment, LNB, condition of cable and connections and last but not least the decoder itself. A proper installer with the right measurement equipment would take 30 minutes to find the problem by eliminating the possibilities starting at the dish and working your way back to the decoder...

I hear what you are saying and that is what Multichoice suggest when I call them - but then it rights itself. Like magic. And we don't have issues again for months. That is what I don't get...

I did not go through this whole thread, so I don't know exactly what was discussed before. I hear what you are saying. Obviously there is a reason for the problem being intermittent. LNB would be the most obvious. I might have been able to tell you what it is if I had a look at your installation, but I can't... and I don't do that kind of work anymore. I am in the industry though (not Multichoice or agent). All I can offer is a phone number...

Cool, thanks.

It is getting better for some reason. Still breaking up every now and then...I just don't get it....

"Searching for signal..." being experienced.

This experienced with primary decoder (SD PVR) on Xtra View setup. Primary decoded (HD PVR) working fine.
