Hi Guys

I have had a working DSTV installation for 4 years. About two weeks ago, my signal (picture/radio) became very choppy, so I had a look at the signal status page on the decoder. What I see there is a strength of around 80% and a quality also around that figure (as per what I have been using for the past four years). However, the signal bars stay at that level, but every 2 seconds or so it falls to zero, and then back to that figure. This behavior continues all the time so I cannot actually watch or listen to anything.

What I've done:
1) I've concluded it cannot be misalignment of my dish or LNB because the strength ad quality is high when it is there. Also,m I have a firm installation with a fairly big dish
2) I tried bypassing my splitter to see if that was the problem, but it is not that
3) I've replaced the LNB with a new one but have the same problem.
4) The wiring looks OK based on a visual inspection

Does anybody have any ideas?

Test your decoder on a friends LNB to see if it isn't the decoder?

There are no trees in the line of sight as far as I can make out - whatever is there has always been there. I think I should test the decoder that is a good idea. I doubt it is a problem though because the signal is being split to another decoder and I'm having the same issue on that decoder
