Over the last few weeks I have noticed frequent 'pauses' during DSTV's streaming of live and recorded events.

Obviously this is annoying - a bowler runs up, and in mid-stride the TV 'freezes' - a moment or two later you see and hear the crowd applauding but you have no idea why!
The same goes for football, rugby, MMA...

Replays are not much better...

What is going on?

That is normal, was like that when I left DSTV more than a few years ago.

I'm struggling to even stream from my Plex Joburg server, so it could be load shedding related.
DSTV has always worked before we entered Stage 6, for me at least on 40Mb VDSL

Must say F1 TV is quite impressive - a lot of extras besides live races.

Live races impressive as well with all the camera+radio options etc. Pre race programs, you name it.

I tried reporting this to DSTV, was on the phone with them for well over 2 hours, during a game, at first they blamed the hardware, my being on adsl at the time, then later when I was on fibre, it being too slow, all sorts of really not useful... Then I started using Netflix, and not once has netflix had an error, every pixel of every frame, netflix works 100% of the time.. Never once had any issues.. DSTV was so bad, it was pointless.. Now that the IPL is gone, and from next season no local international games, only rugby and F1..What is the point to paying 12k a year...

Currently watching F1 TV using F1 Multiviewer and the quality is amazing. Opened DSTV Now in Chrome and holy balls it's bad quality. Plus it doesn't maintain the correct aspect ratio on an ultrawide screen.

Cater to the lowest common denominator

Try these

Everything's fine with my settings. Are you streaming currently? Does it look okay? Maybe I should try a different browser.
I don't use browsers for streaming, normally use the dstv now app

Ah that's the problem. On tv it's more watchable. But my wife is using the tv tonight. Thought I'd just watch the F1 qualifying on pc where I normally do and then watch the rugby here too. The rugby is very pixelated though even when set to max resolution.

Tried Firefox and same there so looks like it's a stream problem on pc unfortunately.
Possibly I've noticed even Netflix via browser sucks

Not as bad as this:

But still pretty bad.

Sheesh the rugby is just about unwatchable. People pay for this?
Not sure what you're watching on but I've been watching tdf and now the rugby all afternoon with no issues. Used both my tablet (Android) and Samsung TV.
