Am I doing something wrong? Or has mono choice in their infinite wisdom done away with the “TV Guide” feature on the Samsung TV app?

I can’t seem to find it anywhere, and it was definitely there in the past. There seems to be no way to easily scan through multiple channels and their lineups on one screen. That makes it particularly hard to figure out which channel specific live sports and so on will be shown.

Sports are pretty simple as they're channel specific. To see upcoming schedule long press ok on the channel selection screen, or press down when watching a channel

They aren’t. I’m specifically referring to MTB XCO. It jumps around between different channels. So the long press OK doesn’t help.

The TV guide that has always been there worked fine, but now it’s gone. Didn’t realise it was possible to make that app any worse, but monochoice never fails to amaze

Just opened DStv stream on Android TV. It automatically updated overnight through the PlayStore.

Layout has changed with live channels. Big tiles for different channels without a decoder like or Tivimate type EPG, but rather big tiles as well for EPG programming when long pressing the OK/centre button on remote.

Still not convinced. Struggling to find joy with this app.

Yep, it’s pretty terrible as a way to view upcoming live programming etc. I don’t know how the app developers thought this was an improvement.

I haven't seen the update yet, but it sounds like they have rolled out the web player's design to the TV app which is bad nees. What version of the AndroidTV app is this?

I am still on 6.4.1, because 6.5.0 (released March 12th) wouldn't play any recorded shows.

This it what shows at my Xiaomi Mi Box S, Android TV:

Ah, okay. Thanks. Will see when it comes through on my side then (or once someone uploads 6.6.0 to APK Mirror).

Their update cadence for the different platforms is interesting, because the Android phone app is yet to get the 24h reverse playback, ability to record or play recordings yet. But AndroidTV and iOS got it in December already.

Thank you for asking this question. My frustration levels went sky-high when I saw the screen and also wondered what I am doing wrong. I am streaming with a Maverick Media box.

Got the 6.6.0 update on my TV today as well.

I agree, they will have to bring the TV guide back in one form or another. At least as an addition to this new channel selection by tiles view.

For browsing what's currently showing the new tile view at least gets away from the janky jumping between different timeslots that was there in the past (eg. when one channel has a show that runs for multiple hours and others have shorter shows). And the addition of the Cloud PVR icon to indicate which channels has it, is useful.

But for sports especially it makes no sense to have to look at each channel's line-up separately to figure out which channel is showing the match you're after.

I would also really like for them to add the ability to record shows straight from the TV guide (and more than 24h in advance) rather than first having to play the individual channel on which you want to record something and then selecting "Channel lineup". Even adding the ability to record to the new channel line-up section that you get when long-pressing on a channel would be an improvement on having to actually play the channel first.

On the DSTV IOS app to view TV guide you can press on More. Then there is TV GUIDE.

I found that the content of not all the channels that I am subscribed to appear on all devices. When I stream on my TV with the Maverick mediabox, I can see everything and all lineups. On my computer and cellphone, some channels are completely absent and in other cases the channel shows but the lineup is empty. Based on my subscription I can be logged in on 2 devices at a time. I have tried to log out of all other devices, even if they are not in use and the devices are switched off, but the same channels' lineups are still missing or empty.

DStv has been having issues with its online guide, so will be affecting all of you as well. It's been going on for months now :-/

Only place to find M-Net and MMovies detail is at https://www.dstv.com/m-net/en-za/home (halfway down the page)
Few or no synopses though.

Other channels - get a decoder. (Some older decoders' EPG also giving trouble)
