DStv to can two channels: report

I'm sure subscribers will enjoy the benefits of lower subscription prices

Dropping MK makes sense since it was going downhill seriously fast. It was a cool channel about 2 years ago. Anyway, Afrikaners have plenty of music on that 3rd KykNet channel that plays plenty of doef-foef sokkie, so I doubt whether anyone will miss MK.

Well, apart from the AfriForum types who uproar every time anything Afrikaans is touched, regardless of relevance..

Can't one watch Bloomberg online?

It's going to be a massive loss to the local music industry. Is about the only place local musos can get exposure besides the internet.

The sad thing is that they will tell you that Channel O or MTVBase will replace MK.

They could have done so much more with MK, like put it on all the cheaper packages so it got more exposure.

Yeah, it's sad about MK. Was one of the only platforms that supported local music since the night zoo was killed.

Used to love the SA music nights when old barney used to bring a local band into the studio and they'd play live over the air to a national audience. Oh yeah and the gig guide classifieds every night, was a cool way to stay in touch with the local music scene in other cities/towns/dorps.

Errr you people are forgetting that we're in Africa.

The lady who helps me clean usually leaves the TV on while working and she told me she only watches the Mzansi and Afmag channels as well as BBA. She has DSTV at home too.

An angel just died somewhere :(
