Judging from the amount of inquiries we receive about this subject, I decided to do a channel for channel comparison (to the best of my ability).

The following pages are completed and ready for viewing:
1) DStv R99 p/m vd Top TV R99 pm at http://bit.ly/hZUnDl
2) DStv R148 p/m vs Top TV R159 p/m at http://bit.ly/gZUrjs
3) DStv R220 p/m vs Top TV R219 p/m at http://bit.ly/en7lAm

At least now you should be in a better position to compare apples with apples...
Please note: The Indian Bouquet (4 channels) is no longer included in these TTV packages - it is R60 extra.

You're not comparing Apples with Apples though, those tables are awfully thought out.

Nice comparison. The two top cheap packages, there's nothing to choose between the two. I think DSTV trumps on Compact, with Vuzu, Series, Nat Geo, Animal planet, Discovery, football. TopTV have nothing to match that, their doccie channels aren't very good.

Sorry you feel that way. It's an exact representation of the information on the DSTV and TOP TV websites. I'm not for or against any of the providers, just thought it's time to put the offerings next to one another. You do with it what you want...

not really sure what you mean there

both are +- the same price
both are satellite tv stations
both carry some mutual channels

Also, the tables (if the same channel is not on both satellites) shows you their counter part. So where CNN News is on one, Fox News is right beside it for the other.

So comparing these apples... are you high? because I see apples...

So HiNolly is comparable to Action TV? A lot of the counter parts just don't make sense.

Apologies if I came across too brash.

I don't think it matters, most of the channels can't be compared like for like. I think you should at all the one side offers vs the other as a whole. Sure he can improve it a bit & group things like doccies, series, movies, but as a rough guide it's alright.

I see what you mean because in the beginning he appears to be saying side-by-side channels are comparable.

Guys please read my first sentence with emphasis on "(to the best of my ability)"

Yes it's not perfect, I agree, but have you seen something similar elsewhere? Please be my guest to work on the draft - it's not cast in stone...

Unfortunately I spend most of my day installing these things and can only do these things at night.

I thought you as consumers might appreciate a closer look a bit more than 25 vs 27 channels.

Cheers, H

Are you Satellite Solutions from the DSTV forum?

If you are, thanks for posting this on MYBB as we can give a more objective opinion without being censored(which i was when trying to post my view on that forum)

Yip, one and the same (previously Sats R Us).

It's only a pleasure - If you know Geoff, MervG, etc. on the DStv Forum they can tell you how I feel about transparency and censored posts! When I post something I consider valuable to consumers, I do not expect "unfavorable" (honest) information to be censored or deleted! But that's a entirely different discussion....

Great to be appreciated, thanks DA. P.S. Great signature - totally agree!

I hope you know now how a dog is rehabilitated in a way that "you should not attempt at home". Meanwhile I will really enjoy Natura where even their commercial breaks are very interesting and fun.

Yeah there is a lot of room for improvement and I think constructive criticism will make it valuable asset to his site.

What would be cool is a mouse-over window that would list the names of shows on that particular channel.

I like the idea of grouping them by type, tabs would be win in that regard.

I really appreciate the work of the author, but I agree with you Fudzy.
