DSTV: Where to start?

What are you subscribed to? Downloading i guess :D. Look if you don't watch sport dstv is worthless.

How do you say this? Look, if you one for downloading (pirating? ;) ) series and movies off the net, then I suppose. But I love recording the HD movies and watching them later, plus comedy central, discovery, Nat Geo etc etc etc. Compared to going to the movies it's a far more valid and practical expenditure for viewing pleasure.

After sticking to my guns for years choosing not to have DSTV and not to support another monopolising company in SA, I've finally decided to take the plunge. I'm a big motorsport fan and it seems like the only option in SA to watch Formula 1 live is on Supersport 7 on DSTV - so Premium package, here I come baby!

So where do I start? Is there a DSTV for Dummies book perhaps? With typical levels of service I'm loathed to just pick up the Yellow Pages and dial the nearest installer. Almost did that but had the foresight to look for the company I chose on hellopeter.com and was very happy I did not call them.

I stay in Cape Town's Northern suburbs - can anyone here recommend a good, reliable installer in the area?

The new 2P HDTV decoder advertised on the DSTV website looks nice. Any opinions on it?

Cheers
Neville

Hence the need for a Dummies book :)

So what do I need or what is the process?
- I buy decoder
- Then call installer for satellite dish?
- Or do I call DSTV first to subscribe?
- I saw something about activation... who does that? Me or the installer?
- Help? :o

You have to stop trolling these threads, the guy was asking for help with dstv, he wasn't asking if he was a fool or not. Considering you pirate everything i think your comments will prove useless in this case. One cannot pirate sport because live sport cannot be replicated.

/bare in mind i have no issues with piracy so keep them panties on.

Spunky i have the full dstv package but i only really watch sport, i download everything. I cannot tolerate the ads and movie repeats. I have no issues pirating movies or series as i am paying for them, i just view them earlier :p. Series on dstv is the most mind numbing thing ever, ads ads and more ads, nat geo and so on the worst. Like 5 minutes of ads that i have seen a million times.

I do however watch dstv at times, like i am enjoying comedy central, spin city o yea baby :D but the ads OMG so bad.

The guys from Fringe could find a way.

Exploiting the glomba frequency in a wormhole sounds feasible.

Yea they are also working on a time machine for piraters of sport, you take the pirate copy with you back in time, so you are actually watching it live with everyone else. Soon to be released by the piratebay and available at most online stores.
