DStv without a decoder - 2020 expected release date

MultiChoice will soon start testing DStv Now as a standalone service.

The on-demand platform is currently only available as part of a DStv subscription, which requires a connected decoder and satellite dish.

There's nothing stopping you from getting DSTV Now at the moment. Just get a smartcard, activate it and then throw it away and use DSTV Now only.

I have a 100mbps fibre line and DSTV Now is buffering. Netflix does not.

Should they do this, MWEB should add this as a value proposition to it's packages to increase its subscriber base, but knowing how both Multichoice and MWEB work, they'll never want to do this even if it's to the benefit to their parent company.

I'm pretty sure Naspers sold MWEB and secondly Multichoice is now spun into their own publically traded company

Other than maybe the fact that smart cards are linked to decoders these days, and you can't buy a stand alone smart card without owning a decoder.

If they don't make it cheaper than full on DStv, then they can just as well leave it. Seeing as the service won't be burdened by satellite costs, it needs to be much cheaper.

I have a 100mb fibre, and someone else's DSTV now is fine on my side, never seen buffering, have the quality degrade every now and then - but that's about it.

Welcome to the 21st Century, some of us missed you.

I would subscribe in a heartbeat if I could get DSTVNow with a sports only package.
