This article sounds like an advert for a career change. Most of the fines are way less than a year's university fees and I am confident they made much much more than that.

Yep, the more exclusive you make your stuff .... , the more you have to pay, looking after your stash. Eventually you are paying more than your stash is worth.

Yah well if SA would broadcast the Rugby for free like other Countries we would not have to look for ways to watch it "illegally".

So these guys where catering for that portion of the population that are unable to buy their own "box" and set it up for themselves.

How do you pirate a piece of hardware?

I know you get knock off devices but did not know it is possible for a university student to be able to build a streaming box, in mass.

You don't pirate a piece of hardware.

You buy cheap boxes from Aliexpress/Alibaba/Temu, you load Kodi, and Addons for Free Streams, sell it to the dumb types who cannot do it themselves - basically. Could also be selling preloaded IPTV. Who knows

Basically a plug n play solution for the stupid, or to useless to do it for yourself types.

Been hearing about big organizations "tackling piracy" since I was using a 56k dial-up modem.

What have they actually achieved in all the years?

If a human can create it then there will be another human that can undo it.
