I have a question for MTN_Data_Dude.

My wife recently upgraded to an N73 from a 6230 (ProCall 120 package). She got a 3G SIM and the old 32k SIM was deactivated. But she needs Dual Call so that she can use the 6230 with her car kit. Does the secondary SIM have to be a 3G as well, or can it be a 32k SIM? Will a 3G SIM work for voice calls in the old 6230?

If a 32k SIM is OK for the secondary 6230, can the old 32k SIM be reactivated, or must she buy a new one when applying for Dual Call?

When upgrading, she mentioned that she needed Dual Call, and was told to do it in a 2-stage process - first the new 3G SIM, then later a new SIM for the 6230.

Good day,

No the secondary SIM doesn’t have to be 3G and yes I think you can use a 32K SIM in terms of your question will the 3G SIM work for voice calls I’m not sure as when the phone was type approved it was never tested with a 3G SIM so I really don’t know. If you going to use the 32K SIM yes it can be reactivated and if you get any hassles then let me know and I’ll do it for you. If you can PM me with her details I’ll arrange for someone at the service centre to contact your wife and get the Dual call approved.

Thanks MTNDD

The 3G sim should work as mine works fine in my SE P800 which is older than the 6230

I asked that my secondary SIM be a 3G sim also but the guy said that is impossible and insisted that I take the 32K sim. He said they tried to activate a 3G sim as secondary before but failed ?!

That's what I thought! Should I now pay for a new sim or should they exhange it? And how do I convince the guy he is wrong?

@MtnUser

Okay what you do is you PM me with where you went the person you spoke to and I'll call the manager and advise them to swap out the sim no questions asked. There is no way I expect you to convince the guy
