Hi all i have a Sony DRU-810A that supports just about every dvd format, but last nite i was trying to write a dual layer disc and Nero said it cant write to ML-R discs, even though the packaging of the Verbatim disc says Dual Layer. Any idea why this might be? Also, does anyone know were i can get dual layer disc's from or recommend some maufactures that make good quality DVD Dual Layer Discs? Thanx.

I had a previous version 6 nero on when i intalled my drive, will reinstall nero (the one that came with writer) and check if it works. But any idea were i can get Dual Layer or Double Layer Discs From??

Verbatim Dual Layer , Advanced AZO , 8.5gb / 215min dvd-R DL ( 4x ) - 5pack jewel box R 188 .00

There is no point to an dual layer disk other than if you file to want to put on the DVD is bigger that 4.7gb.

some movies come on dual layer disks, saves them time - they dont have to burn 2 dvd's

Most movies come on dual layer disks (DVD-9) - Using a DL disk means you can have an exact duplicate without needing to run it through something like CloneDVD to transcode it to a smaller size.

Yes ,but I rather use ShrinkDVD and just backup the main movie ie no menus and bonus material. The quality is still around 90% of the original and thats enough for me. Also some PS2 games come on dual layer disks like God of War and Gran Turismo 4.

I hope DL will become like R3-4 some time soon, because I am looking forward to having twice as much info on single disk. Takes less space, less jewel cases, less dvd holders ...

I doubt DL will become that cheap before Blu-ray or HD-DVD arrives

You should update your DVD drives firmware. They normally update the firmware regularly to support different kinds of media. I normally upgrade my DVD drive firmware every 3 months or so.
