Dual Monitors Small prob can someone help

Hi i have just purchased a LG Flatron W2043S and i have a standard monitor I would like to hook them both up to my pc I have a Nvidia MSI GEFORCE 9500GT Graph card is it a remote possibility can watch movies while working on my PC is this possible without having to purchase another graphics card can someone please explain this to me im quite desperate :confused: ok so have been told it can be done but how does it all work do i need any special cables or is it all just a matter of configuration

Well, you can have Dual Monitor, and then on your primary monitor, you work, and for the movies you click and drag the movie player to the other monitor...
 
ok but how do i set it up do i need special cables how does it all fit togther
 
it depends what kind of ports your graphics card has. if it has a VGA and and a DVI then you need a DVI cable or a DVI to VGA converter. And yes it will be easy to watch a movie on the other monitor at the same time.
 
AFAIK that graphics card only has one video output......
If it has two then it's problem solved, but otherwise you're going to have to buy another graphics card.
 
I think the 9500GT has a VGA and a DVI ouput.
Just connect the DVI (white port) to your larger monitor and the VGA (blue port) to your other monitor. You might need to do some configuring in your graphics control panel as well...

Almost definitely possible.
First thing: get everything connected. Your display card should have a second output- a white one with 2 rows of sockets. That's the DVI Khoisan is talking about. Now check that your new monitor has a similar one. If yes, get a cable and connect them. If no, get an adapter to convert DVI to normal VGA, and connect them with a VGA cable. Power everything up.

Now some possiblities:
1) it works!
2) it doesn't. Look in display properties if there's a second monitor shown, but greyed out. Highlight it and select "Extend desktop onto this monitor. It works!
3) if second monitor doesn't show on display properties, you probably have a driver issue. I am using an old version because the latest stuff although "compatible with Windows 7 and Dual monitors" isn't. If you get this far and get stuck, let us know.

From the pic it has three: HDMI, DVI and VGA. AFAIK you would only be able to use two of the ports at once but that's all that you require anyway.
 
Hi Guys thank you very much will look into getting the DVI to VGA converter becase my monitor i believe only supports VGA not 100% certain but 99% will ty all you suggested thanx to all for your resonse it makes posting here a pleasure when guys come out and help :) Thanx again
