That is mad. I don't think I could ever justify that many monitors. Going for three is already a stretch

What you need is 3 of exactly the same size so you can have a frontal view and left and right.

I think I would honestly get epileptic fits - and no, I dont suffer from epilepsy.
Using one LCD for Surfing and another for doing something else is just stupid IMO...
To me it works when you need to see both screens at the same time - like for example working in Photoshop while working on a 3D Model - or working an a 3D model while looking at reference art on the left...if you don't need both open at the same time, use the taskbar.
but to each his own i guess...

I only have one monitor at home. At the office I tried 2 panels for all of 1 week, then had to build a new machine which could only support 1 panel. It doesn't take long to appreciate more than one display especially when doing dev work. However, I wish there was a decent piece of software to allow proper task bars on all monitors.

+1 That program is awesome! I'm even thinking of buying the Pro Version.
But in theme of the thread. My setup works great. A 22" Wide next to a 17". There's a 50 pixel height difference. The 22" is the main monitor, and everything else is on the 17". It's nothing short of heavenly to code with a web browser or Library open on the next screen.
